We’re everywhere with our gun safety message these days. APD, Texas DPS, social media, and text messaging. Austin Public Health is spreading the word to save lives. They’re saturating the markets to save lives. The messages are in English and Spanish for maximum impact.

Our current contract with the City of Austin Public Health has us working together to distribute gun safety devices. We’re spreading the word for safety in social media and text messaging campaigns.

The Austin Police Department is sending our message about safe gun storage to APD social media accounts and the City of Austin’s public webpage. The message pushes out our best instruction to gun owners. “Safe gun storage starts at home. If it doesn’t have a home safe, it’s not a safe home.”

The Department of Public Safety has given us a nice spot in its Keep Em Safe Texas campaign. Our video about safe gun storage is right on the front page.

You can watch the video right here. The DPS safety campaign is being funded as a result of our testimony at two separate Legislature sessions. We helped lawmakers see the need for safety instruction for gun owners.

The DPS has also produced videos that teach safe gun practices, using funding from the second round of state budgeting. The state is also informing Texans about the Firearm Carry Act of 2021. The law that went into effect on Sept. 1 allows individuals who are 21 years of age or older and who can legally possess a firearm to carry a handgun without first obtaining a license.

The DPS is promoting gun owner training anyway, keeping safety in mind. They recommend that owners get safety training from a certified instructor. The DPS has full information about the new law as well as its advice about ownership on its website.

We’re so proud of our community for stepping up for gun safety.
